The Fourth Great Ninja War served as an opportunity for sidelined characters to redeem themselves – and Sakura did just that, as she fought alongside the likes of Naruto and Sasuke. While her role may not have been as aggressive as her comrades, her supporting capabilities remained unparalleled throughout the war, as she was solely responsible for saving hundreds of lives. Delving deeper into her role further reveals whether Sakura was truly able to redeem herself during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Medical Ninja of the Allied Forces
In the initial stages of the war, Sakura served in the Allied Shinobi Forces’ medical unit. While her role barred her from fighting on the front lines, her position in the medical unit was quite pivotal, especially during the Zetsu’s impersonations infiltrating the camps. Despite the immense pressure on their unit, Sakura kept her calm and performed her duty quite responsibly.
Even though the number of injured shinobi had started to drastically rise, forcing the medical unit to stop taking in more wounded, it was Sakura who had insisted that they should take in all that needed help. While Sakura’s role as a medical-nin can easily be disregarded as miniscule, yet it was through her resolve that her medical unit kept intact, which is something equally admirable as every other shinobi’s efforts on the front lines.
Healed the Entire Battlefield with the Hundred Healings Mark
During the midst of battle, Sakura awakens her Hundreds Healing Mark, a seal located on her forehead that has an absurd amount of chakra stored within. The Hundreds Healing Mark is an advanced level jutsu that not even seasoned medical-nin could awaken, as seen in Shizune’s case who was unable to form her own Hundred Healings Mark. The seal is formed by continuously concentrating a portion of one’s chakra on a specific point on their body, and once it reaches maximum capacity, the Hundred Healings Mark is formed. Since this requires the user to continiously channel chakra into a concentrated point, it requires immense chakra control capability, something that Sakura could handle with ease. Moreover, he achievement is further made commendable by the fact that she was only 16 years old when she formed the mark.

Tsunade was the first shinobi ever to formulate the Hundred Healings Mark and awaken it, with Sakura becoming the only other shinobi to achieve this commendable feat. Through the mark, Sakura was able to use long-distance healing by summoning Katsuyu, ensuring every single shinobi on the battlefield was recovered. She was even able to form a healing zone by spreading Katsuyu’s body over the entire battlefield. Such capabilities are beyond any normal shinobi, and Sakura being able to perform such a feat speaks volume of her healing prowess and overall skill as a shinobi.
Perfect Support for Naruto and Sasuke
When Team 7 reunited and all three members stepped up to fight Ten-Tails, Sakura stood right beside Sasuke and Naruto as an equal. While the two struggled in fighting off the monsters created by Ten-Tails, Sakura was able to wipe off so many of them with a single punch. Her brute force put her on equal terms with her team members, but physical fighting isn’t where she shines, as her true talent lies in medical ninjutsu.
While Sasuke and Naruto took care of Obito on the front, Sakura stayed back and healed the entire Allied Shinobi Force with her Hundred Healings Mark through long-distance healing. Her excellent support capabilities allowed her to become a necessity on the battlefield, as her healing not only saved countless lives but also allowed Naruto to save up his own chakra that he was sharing with everyone else in the battle. Moreover, she was able to summon Katsuyu during the battle, something that only Tsunade was capable of doing before that moment. Through her formidable actions in the Fourth Great Ninja War and her unfathomable supporting capabilities on the battlefield, Sakura truly redeemed herself and renounced the negative connotations associated with her in the past.
