Updated on April 11, 2022, by Rei Penber: The Mangekyo Sharingan is quite easily one of the most useful Kekkei Genkai in Naruto and the plethora of abilities that it offers to its users are nothing short of incredible. With abilities that allow one to manipulate things such as eternal fire, space-time, and even reality itself, this Kekkei Genkai is immensely powerful. While this list already includes 10 of the most powerful abilities that these eyes have to offer, there is no shortage of terrific Mangekyo Sharingan abilities. With that in mind, we’ve expanded further on the list and added more of these incredible abilities.
14 Amaterasu
The Amaterasu is one of the first few powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan that the fans witnessed in the Naruto series. It was first used by Itachi Uchiha and this ability allowed him to create inextinguishable black flames to attack his enemies with.
The flames of Amaterasu are said to be so powerful that they burn as hot as the sun itself. What’s more, these flames can only be extinguished once the target is completely incinerated, which just goes to show its power. Sasuke Uchiha is a user of this power as well.
13 Blaze Release: Honoikazuchi
Used by Sasuke Uchiha, Blaze Release: Honoikazuchi is anime-only Mangekyo Sharingan ability that he used in the fight against Naruto Uzumaki. By surrounding himself in the black flames of Amaterasu, Sasuke created massive spikes that skewer all those around him.
He can further make this technique stronger by pulling his enemies towards him using the Rinnegan’s Bansho Ten’in. Although Naruto survived its usage, this technique still remains to be very overpowered.
12 Yasaka Magatama
Known to be one of the strongest abilities of the Mangekyo Sharingan, Yasaka Magatama can only be used by those who have access to the Susano’o. This ability allows the user to create giant beads of chakra and use them to attack their opponents from a distance.
According to Itachi Uchiha, this ability is one of the very best that the Susano’o offers from a distance. Its powers are great enough to cause colossal damage and, what’s more, it could even destroy a Chibaku Tensei when combined with Naruto’s Rasenshuriken and Killer Bee’s Tailed Beast Ball.
11 Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi
Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi is a powerful Mangekyo Sharingan ability that is unique to Sasuke Uchiha’s Mangekyo Sharingan. Just like Itachi, Sasuke had the power of the Amaterasu in one eye. Interestingly, his other eye offered a completely different power called Kagutsuchi.
This ability allows Sasuke to manipulate the black flames of the Amaterasu according to his will. Not only can he apply high-level shape transformation to it but also incorporate it into many other jutsu of his, such as the Chidori.
10 Chidori Kagutsuchi
Chidori Kagutsuchi is yet another incredible ability that Sasuke made use of in his fight against Naruto Uzumaki. By combining the power of the black flames of Kagutsuchi with his Six Paths chakra-enhanced Chidori, Sasuke was able to create the ultimate jutsu.
Using his Sharingan, he could see through his opponents’ most intricate movements and deliver a lethal blow to his enemies. It goes without saying that this technique was extremely overpowered as it managed to blow Naruto’s arm off.
9 Susano’o
The Susano’o is one of the greatest powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan, if not the greatest. This ability is only accessible to those who have awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan in both eyes.
First seen through Itachi Uchiha, the Susano’o forms a giant humanoid of chakra around the user the power of which is immense. Not only does it function as the greatest form of defense but it also has enough offensive power to cleave mountain ranges apart with a single slash of the sword.
8 Kamui Shuriken
One of the strongest Mangekyo Sharingan abilities introduced in the series so far, Kamui Shuriken was used by Kakashi Hatake after he received Obito’s Six Paths charka and the Mangekyo Sharingan.
This ability allowed his Susano’o to summon giant shuriken which warped anything they sliced to the Kamui dimension. It was used against Kaguya Otsutsuki and proved to be strong enough to tear the limbs of her Ten-Tails body.
7 Kakashi’s Kamui
Despite not being an Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake had a Sharingan, thanks to Obito Uchiha, who gifted it to him in the Third Great Ninja War. In time, he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan and his strongest ability was Kamui. Using this power, he could warp anything from a distance and send it to the Kamui dimension.
When used against Deidara, it was powerful enough to rip his arms off. Later, Kakashi’s control over this power improved massively and he became powerful enough to transport something as massive as the Gedo Statue’s head.
6 Obito’s Kamui
Obito’s Mangekyo Sharingan gave him the power to use the short-ranged version of Kamui. Using this power, Obito could transport any parts of his body to the Kamui dimension almost instantaneously to make it look as if he couldn’t be touched.
His Kamui was also powerful enough to warp anyone he touched into the Kamui dimension within a matter of seconds, making it incredibly dangerous. According to Minato, his ability was superior to the Flying Raijin technique.
5 Izanagi
Izanagi isn’t a jthat is specific to the Mangekyo Sharingan, however, it can also be used through the this eye. This jutsu allows the user to turn illusions into reality and alter it whichever way they want.
Simply put, Izanagi is a genjutsu that is applied to reality itself. This makes the user almost a godlike figure in combat and for as long as the Izanagi is active, they’re practically unbeatable in combat. Obito Uchiha’s usage of this jutsu against Konan showed the fans how incredible it truly is.
4 Izanami
To counter Izanagi, the Jutsu called Izanami was created. Just as Izanagi alters destiny, Izanami is a Jutsu that decides it. Izanami is quite a powerful genjutsu that requires certain stipulations before being cast. A loop needs to be created for this jutsu to work, as seen during Itachi Uchiha’s fight against Kabuto Yakushi.
Once the loop is set, Izanami can be activated, and immediately after, the target is eternally caught in a loop of events in their mind. There is no way to break Izanami other than accepting one’s true self and accepting their fate, which is what makes this jutsu one of the most dangerous to ever exist. Just like Izanagi, the Izanami isn’t specifically a Mangekyo Sharingan ability but can be used through the eye.
3 Kotoamatsukami
The Kotoamatsukami is described to be one of the strongest Uchiha Genjutsu, if not the strongest. Unique to Shisui Uchiha’s Mangekyo Sharingan, this jutsu allowed him to cast a strong genjutsu on anyone and manipulate them accordingly to his will without them even realizing that they’re being manipulated.
For this reason, the Kotoamatsukami was known to be the strongest genjutsu. Even someone as powerful as Kabuto Yakushi couldn’t prevent this technique from working.
2 Tsukuyomi
Used by Itachi Uchiha, the Tsukuyomi is an incredibly powerful genjutsu. Unlike any other genjutsu, the Tsukuyomi trapped people in a different world where Itachi had complete control over space and time. There, Itachi was free to manipulate things as he wished and torture his victims in a number of ways.
The most frightening aspect of this ability is that even a second under its influence could be made to feel like an eternity if Itachi wished so. What’s more, this is the only genjutsu in the story that could kill someone.
1 Kamui Raikiri
Kamui Raikiri is, by far, the strongest technique offered to Kakashi Hatake by his Mangekyo Sharingan. After receiving the full power of Obito’s eyes and the Six Paths chakra, Kakashi gained enough power to fight and even injure Kaguya Otsutsuki.
By using Kamui on himself, Kakashi was almost invincible and was able to deliver a deadly blow to Kaguya Otsutsuki. Eventually, this ended up playing a huge role in her being sealed away. Given its immense firepower and the fact that it can’t be dodged, the Kamui Raikiri is a sure kill technique.
