The power of this eye increases further as it evolves, making it a tremendous Kekkei Genkai to have. Although countless Naruto characters in the story have had access to the Sharingan, only a handful stand out as terrific users of this ability.

Updated December 19, 2021 by Rei Penber: The Sharingan is a Kekkei Genkai that, although rare at the beginning of the story, appeared very frequently going forward. While some of them were Uchiha of the past who were fleshed out via flashbacks, others were non-Uchiha who got their hands on this power somehow. Keeping the sheer number of Sharingan users in mind, we’ve made an addition to the list and also included some other impressive characters with this power.

14 Black Zetsu

Black Zetsu received the Sharingan during the Fourth Great Ninja War when he took control of Obito Uchiha’s body for a very short period of time. Using his Sharingan and even Mangekyo Sharingan, Black Zetsu was able to access the Kamui dimension quite easily.

His usage of this power depended heavily on Obito and when the Uchiha regained control of his body, he could no longer function as he liked. Nonetheless, for a short time, he used the Mangekyo Sharingan impressively.

13 Kagami Uchiha

A mighty shinobi of the Uchiha, Kagami was quite a skilled ninja back in the day who was known to hold incredible control over the Sharingan. According to the likes of Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo Shimura, Kagami was a terrific ninja who lived to serve the village.

Even though Shisui was quite strong, he still believed that he wasn’t worthy of being compared to Kagami, which puts into perspective how impressive he must’ve been. Sadly, Kagami wasn’t seen in combat of any sort so his true skill with the Sharingan remains to be unseen for now.

12 Fugaku Uchiha

Fugaku Uchiha was the last known leader of the Uchiha clan and he was quite powerful, evident from the fact that he was up for the position of the Fourth Hokage in Konohagakure. Fugaku took part in the Third Great Ninja War and fared quite well.

At some point in his life, he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, making him one of the very few to have this power. Although his Mangekyo Sharingan abilities remain unknown to this date, he was quite sure that he could control the Nine-Tails with it without much problem, which proved that he was definitely among the strongest Sharingan users.

11 Danzo Shimura

Danzo Shimura was an elder of Konohagakure who planned to take control of the village and run it under his hardline policies. With Orochimaru’s help, Danzo was able to implant several Sharingan on his arm and use them for Izanagi.

What’s more, he stole Shisui’s Mangekyo Sharingan and had the power of Kotoamatsukami up his sleeve. He had also augmented his body with Hashirama’s cells, meaning the eyes didn’t drain his chakra as immensely. While strong, Danzo was not an effective user, as he wasn’t a true Uchiha.

10 Shin Uchiha

Shin Uchiha was created by none other than Orochimaru using Hashirama’s cells. Just like Danzo, he had several Sharingan on his body, which granted him tremendous vision.

Shin had also managed to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan somehow and with his eye power, he could telekinetically manipulate weapons that he had branded with his mark. Shin could use the Mangekyo Sharingan without worrying about the consequences as his entire body was made from Hashirama’s cells, meaning he didn’t lack chakra at all.

9 Izuna Uchiha

Izuna Uchiha was the younger brother of Madara Uchiha and at one point, known to be just as strong as him. Izuna and Madara trained together all the time and they were the first of the Uchiha to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Although Izuna’s Mangekyo Sharingan abilities remain unknown, he was strong enough to match up to Madara and even hold his own against Tobirama Senju in battle. He was the second strongest Uchiha of his generation, but he ended up dying at the hands of the future Second Hokage of the village.

8 Shisui Uchiha

Known to be a master of the Body Flicker due to his staggering speed, Shisui was a strong Uchiha and a Jonin of Konohagakure. To date, he remains to be one of the very few Uchiha who wasn’t affected by the Curse of Hatred.

Shisui was an extremely capable user of the Sharingan and during the Third Great Ninja War, his eye evolved into the Mangekyo Sharingan. Using Kotoamatsukami, he could cast a powerful Genjutsu on others and manipulate them without them even realizing it.

7 Itachi Uchiha

The infamous Clan Killer, Itachi Uchiha ranks among the strongest Uchiha clan members to ever live. Right from his childhoods days, Itachi was recognized as a prodigy. By the age of 8, he had already awakened the Sharingan and soon after, gained the Mangekyo Sharingan.

He could use the inextinguishable flames of the Amaterasu with his left eye, and a powerful Genjutsu known as Tsukuyomi with his right. Itachi’s usage of the Sharingan was such that he could cast a Genjutsu without even maintaining eye contact.

6 Obito Uchiha

Unlike most Uchiha, Obito was a late bloomer and thus needed quite a lot of time to get strong. After his training with Madara, however, Obito obtained tremendous strength. Having also awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, Obito was powerful enough to fight against the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, by the age of 14.

His eyes gave him the power of Kamui, which allowed him to transport his body parts and anything within his reach to the Kamui dimension. Coupled with his excellent Genjutsu usage and the power to maintain Izanagi for at least 5 minutes, Obito was nigh-invincible.

5 Indra Otsutsuki

Hagoromo’s son, Indra Otsutsuki was the first user of the Sharingan. He is known to have inherited the eye and a very strong chakra from his father. At some point, Indra was able to evolve his eye into a Mangekyo Sharingan which only got stronger with time.

Despite not receiving any of Hagoromo’s powers, he was able to match Asura Otsutsuki in combat with his Mangekyo Sharingan alone. Over the years, Indra reincarnated several times.

4 Madara Uchiha

A legend of the Uchiha clan, Madara was the reincarnation of Indra Otsutsuki. He, along with his brother, was the first of the Uchiha to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan. His prowess with this eye could hardly be matched by anyone.

What’s more, by transplanting his brother’s eyes, Madara could gain the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. At some point, his Sharingan evolved into a Rinnegan, making him even stronger. If that wasn’t enough, he managed to become the “Second Six Paths” during the Fourth Great Ninja War by becoming the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki.

3 Kakashi Hatake ( Double Mangekyo Sharingan)

Kakashi Hatake received his Sharingan from Obito Uchiha during the Third Great Ninja War. Over the years, he strengthened his usage of this eye immensely and even awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Kakashi copied countless Jutsu and even earned the moniker of “The Copy Ninja.” During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he received a dying Obito Uchiha’s Six Paths chakra, along with both his Mangekyo Sharingan. This power-up made him strong enough to fight Kaguya Otsutsuki, a God, with ease.

2 Sasuke Uchiha

Just like Madara, Sasuke is a reincarnation of Indra Otsutsuki, which means that he has a particularly strong chakra, even among the Uchiha. With training, Sasuke could increase his powers further and he gained the Mangekyo Sharingan after Itachi’s death.

Transplanting his brother’s eyes, he gained access to the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, and later, his left eye evolved into the Rinnegan. Sasuke also attained the Six Paths powers from the Sage of Six Paths, which strengthened him even further. By adulthood, he became strong enough to match up to the likes of Momoshiki Otsutsuki in battle, which makes him the strongest Sharingan user of all time.

1 Hagoromo Otsutsuki

Although not a user of the Sharingan in the manga canon, Hagoromo Otsutsuki possessed the Sharingan in the anime. It was believed that his Byakugan evolved into a Sharingan at some point in his life and eventually, he even awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Somehow, his Mangekyo Sharingan then became a Rinnegan, which made him even stronger. Hagoromo was quite powerful with the Sharingan and his usage was good enough to take down some of the most enemies who stood in his way.
