Larson’s three-race win streak at Michigan was broken in June when Clint Bowyer took home the title as Stewart-Haas Racing took the top three spots in the event.
This run was rain-shortened, though, and had Kevin Harvick had a little bit more time, there weren’t bad odds that he would have taken home the victory. He is the betting favorite again Sunday at 11/5, but there are plenty of drivers who could find their way to the winner’s circle on one of the fastest tracks in NASCAR.
We already mentioned Larson’s past success and Bowyer’s victory in June, but beyond that Chase Elliott has had one of the fastest cars on the track for each of the last several weeks and is coming off of his first career victory at Watkins Glen. Ryan Blaney is always at or near the top of the race when horsepower matters and he’ll likely factor into the race near the end.
Then Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. keep on winning themselves, so they are certainly in the mix for a victory. However, this week, you’d be hard-pressed to find a driver more poised for a win than Harvick.
Harvick didn’t drive great last week at Watkins Glen, but he won in New Hampshire, and finished fourth at Pocono and still leads NASCAR with six wins this season. He very well could make up for his runner-up finish in June this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Erik Jones finally has a win under his belt as he took home the victory at Daytona in July, but now he has a chance to grab victory in his home state. The Byron, Mich., native has had success at MIS, finishing in the top 15 in all three tries on the track and earning a fourth-place finish in the Xfinity Series and a third with the Trucks.
Kurt Busch won the pole at June’s race and was in good position for a late run when rain brought the event to an end. He finished third there, giving him his third top-10 finish in his last seven races at Michigan International Speedway. Two of those were in the top five and one was a victory. He has not finished outside the top 12 there in his last six races.
Brad Keselowski loves the high-octane racing in Michigan as he has finished in the top nine on the track seven times in his last nine events. He has yet to win, but with four top-six finishes in the last five years, it would be wrong to count him out for his first 2018 victory.
William Byron has driven the Cup Series just one time in Michigan, earning a 13th-place finish in June. However, he has a track record of success at every level there as he finished in second in 2017 in the Xfinity Series and fourth in 2016 in the Truck Series. Add that to two top 10s in his last two races and top 15s in his last three and Byron has a good chance at a strong run Sunday.
