Kevin Harvick took the lead early and didn’t look back. He led for 177 of 337 laps and finished both stages in first place....

Just as importantly, he had a fast pit crew. Truex’s Furniture Row Racing crew rose to the occasion in the Bank of America 500, getting their driver out of the pits first under caution with seven laps remaining. Truex rocketed away from the field on the restart two laps later, and after a quick caution set up an overtime, he took off once again to win his sixth race of the season in easy fashion....

Much of the leaderboard behind Hamlin, however, was much different than the first six races of the campaign. Clint Bowyer finished in second place, Daniel Suarez finished in third, Erik Jones finished in fourth and Jimmie Johnson came in fifth. The veteran driver locked up his 28th career pole and his first at Atlanta in 20 tries after he posted a track best 184.652 mph. Ryan Newman will start second after posting 184.419 mph. The bigger story of qualifying Friday, though, centered around a man who wasn’t even on the track. Reigning Series champion Martin Truex Jr. failed to pass inspection on three attempts and will start in the back row....

Sudfeld sustained the injury while being taken down toward the end of the first half of Thursday’s 27-10 loss to the Titans. He went 10-for-18 passing for 177 yards and a touchdown before being injured. Despite the relatively good news on how long Sudfeld will be sidelined, Cody Kessler, in his first season with the team, is now in line to be oft-injured starter Carson Wentz’s primary backup. Wentz has suffered season-ending injuries the past two years and has yet to play in a playoff game....

The annual Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Competition is as quintessential to the celebrations as parades and fireworks and despite the global pandemic, this year is no different. The contest, however, will not take place in its traditional Coney Island home, but in a private location with strict COVID-19 guidelines in place. Defending champion Joey “Jaws” Chestnut is once again the overwhelming favorite in the men’s event, where the field has shrunk from the usual 15 contestants to just five competitors....

Both of these sides have been struggling in the current campaign. Nantes are sitting in 14th place while Dijon are rock bottom with only eight points to their name. The two-time grand slam champion announced Wednesday she would not face Elise Mertens amid nationwide protests in the United States over the shooting of Jacob Blake. Blake was shot in the back seven times by police in Kenosha, Wis., and the incident has prompted boycotts in major sporting leagues in the USA. Former world No. 1 Osaka said in a statement on Twitter she was withdrawing from the tournament in New York to “get a conversation started in a majority white sport....

“I’ve often felt that people have no regard for athletes mental health and this rings very true whenever I see a press conference or partake in one,” she wrote on social media. “We’re often sat there and asked questions that we’ve been asked multiple times before or asked questions that bring doubt into our minds and I’m just not going to subject myself to people that doubt me.” Osaka continued, writing that she has seen clips of players breaking down in press conferences after a loss, which she compared to “kicking a person while they’re down....

It was supposed to be UConn’s Shabazz Napier contending with his opponent’s infuriating defense at the game’s decisive moment. Instead, it was Florida trying desperately to catch up after misspending its early command of the game, and it was Wilbekin with Napier in his grill trying to manufacture an opportunity for the Gators. Napier did not budge. Wilbekin faked once. He still didn’t budge. Wilbekin faked again, and this time he found Napier smacking at the ball and knocking it loose, and by the time Napier recovered it and sent it ahead to backcourt partner Ryan Boatright the Huskies were on their way to a fourth NCAA championship game since 1999 — but the first of a new regime....

Kabuto eventually faced down Sasuke and a revived Itachi, who had managed to free himself from Kabuto’s control. For Mike Fincke, this is a reality. Fincke, 54, is a NASA astronaut who has spent over a year in space—at one time holding the national record. Since reaching space for the first time in 2004, Fincke has travelled aboard Russian Soyuz capsules and NASA’s Space Shuttle Endeavour orbiter. He is also due to fly on the first crewed flight of Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner capsule at the end of this year or the start of 2022....

NASA is about to launch its first test flight of its moon-bound Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and crew-capable Orion spacecraft on Monday, August 29. The uncrewed mission, known as Artemis I, will see Orion circle the moon for several days as mission controllers test its capabilities before it speeds back to Earth at around 24,500 miles per hour, putting its heat shield through its paces. It’s the first step in NASA’s Artemis program to return humans to the surface of the moon for the first time in over 50 years....

The 2015 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, set for May 16, will expand its field of drivers and lengthen the race itself, NASCAR announced Wednesday. MORE: Post-Easter power rankings: Still chasing Harvick | Duck Commander 500 weekend preview The field will include race winners from the 2014 and 2015 seasons, all former NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race winners and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions who are full-time competitors. This is a change from the previous standards, where only former NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race winners and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions from the previous 10 seasons were eligible....

The track is favored by many NASCAR drivers as the surface allows for side-by-side racing in multiple grooves. Tires wear out very quickly on the oval, putting a higher importance on long-run speed. Last year, Kevin Harvick won the first two stages at Atlanta, but a penalty allowed Brad Keselowski to swoop in for the checkered flag. Keselowski passed Kyle Larson for the lead with six laps to go for his first win of 2017....

Five of the top eight drivers in qualifying will move to the back of the pack after failing pre-race/post-qualifying inspection. Most notable of those drivers include Aric Almirola who was set to start second and Daniel Suarez who was fourth after qualifying. However, these moves could also have serious implications on betting as some of the prohibitive favorites and recent winners are heading to the back as well. Larson could use a win, as he’s ninth in the standings and still seeking his first playoff points of the year.
